Animation Project - Escape

For this project, I created a stop motion animation titled “Escape.” The story follows a Lego minifigure who unexpectedly comes to life on a desk in his owner’s bedroom. When he notices the glowing stars on the ceiling above him, he becomes determined to reach them. Spotting a nearby toy spaceship, he climbs inside and attempts to launch himself toward freedom.

The animation focuses on conveying emotion through movement, timing, and facial expression, with three primary emotions explored throughout the sequence:

Happiness: When the minifigure first comes to life, he throws his hands in the air, shouts “woohoo,” and displays a wide smile, establishing an upbeat and excited tone.

Fear: As soon as he starts the spaceship, it unexpectedly rockets off the desk. The minifigure screams as he loses control, and a close-up shot shows raised eyebrows, wide eyes, and an open mouth to emphasise his fear.

Anger: After crashing into a toy chest and failing to reach the stars, the minifigure expresses frustration with an angry grunt. A close-up highlights narrowed eyes, pointed eyebrows, and a snarled mouth to reinforce this emotional shift.
